Superb Fairywren - Australia

The superb fairywren is a small, active songbird found in southeastern Australia.

Males in breeding plumage are strikingly vibrant with bright blue foreheads, ear tufts, mantles, and tails, contrasting with a black mask and throat. Females, young birds, and non-breeding males are predominantly brown with a reddish-orange patch around the eye. These social birds live in groups and are known for their complex social dynamics, including cooperative breeding and a high degree of extra-pair mating. They inhabit areas with dense undergrowth, feeding mainly on insects and small arthropods, and are a common sight in urban parks and gardens.
